Today, I’m delighted to announce the launch of the Engine Shed Event Series, a calendar of events that will showcase the best of innovation in the West of England region.
The Engine Shed Event Series aims to gather and strengthen the communities around innovation and technology, bringing together researchers and students from our universities, startup founders, industry, existing and future talent, government, investors and end-users.
Run as quarterly themes, our curated events will explore the opportunities and challenges, identifying where there are opportunities or intervention needed to encourage and support future innovation.
Healthtech will be our first theme for the Event Series, running April-June 2023. Our region is a leader in research and innovation in this sector, with pioneering solutions from transformative cell therapies for cancer patients to enabling the sustainable use of antibiotics. We have a long list too of exciting SMEs working on healthtech to improve lives – including Engine Shed residents getUBetter, Airway Medical and Radii Devices – and several incubators offering world-class facilities and support.
Future themes in our series will continue to focus on areas where our region is a leader, including inclusive finance, quantum technologies and net zero.
We’ll be announcing details of our healthtech events in the coming weeks, but we would love your input if you have an idea for what we should include!
