Engine Shed funds ten entries for fledgling companies to Techstars StartUp Weekend

Ten entrepreneurs looking to gain hands-on experience in launching a start-up, without the resource to invest in training, could benefit from full bursaries from Engine Shed to attend Techstars StartUp Weekend.

The StartUp Weekend takes place from 16th – 18th March at Engine Shed, and provides fledgling businesses the opportunity to launch a start-up in 54 hours. Bringing together designers, developers, marketers, and start-up enthusiasts from across Bristol and beyond, attendees will share ideas, form teams, and launch business ventures, mentored by business leaders who will share their insights and expertise.

The goal of Techstars Startup Weekend is to teach budding entrepreneurs the basics of starting a company, before presenting their idea to a panel of judges who will decide which team developed the winning product and pitch.

Engine Shed and Techstars share a mission to educate and inspire entrepreneurs in the Bristol and Bath region, providing them with the motivation and networking they need to take their next steps in launching a successful startup company. As part of its drive for inclusive economic growth, Engine Shed keen to accept applications from anyone who cannot afford the £50 ticket price.

The event will offer invaluable experience and opportunities to attendees, and we want to ensure that price is not a barrier – inclusion and diversity are key to a strong, successful economy, which is why we are offering 10 bursary positions for those unable to afford the entry fee.”

 

Techstars Startup Weekend is an established organisation that has held over 3,000 events in 150 countries around the world. It is a global movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding start-ups and launching successful ventures. Attendees can expect a to learn about customer development, validating ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building Minimum Viable Products, experiencing the joys and pressures of building a start-up.
