Engine Shed Welcomes Dev Academy and FitConnect as Latest Tenants of The Interchange

Engine Shed is pleased to welcome Dev Academy and FitConnect as the two newest tenants in The Interchange, our coworking space tailored to those expanding their businesses in Bristol.

Dev Academy’s aim is to solve the challenging shortage of skills in our workforce. This can be achieved through a “sustainable and commercially focused model,” which Dev Academy delivers via various services that assisting companies and provide strategic and capacity planning. They also help companies to develop essential skills for building a future workplace.

Dev Academy’s head office is in Newcastle, but in Bristol they use Engine Shed as a home from home when running Software Development courses on behalf of clients including Deloitte, Accenture, DXC.technology, and HP Enterprise.

Duncan McKean, Project Manager at Dev Academy, said:

“Engine Shed is the focal point for all things tech in the South West, and so having a place in The Interchange means we’re always in the centre of what’s going on. This is invaluable for an organisation that’s trying to grow roots in another city. And so when we’re not running cohorts of software developers, we’re housed up in The Interchange organising meetings with a whole host of local organisations in order to raise our awareness and to see what we can offer to the South West tech sector.”

FitConnect connects over 150 apps, wearable techs, and operating systems allowing companies to aggregate customer data through one platform. At Engine Shed, they hope to expand their networks and collaborate with like-minded companies.

FitConnect’s Jamie Cole said:
“Engine Shed is like an extension to some of the London startup vibe. Through friends, we heard that it was a great place to work and it only took us one visit to know that it was right for us. The blend of our own space and the community feel in the Members’ Lounge is perfect for us.”

The Interchange is a 2,200 sq. ft. workspace within Engine Shed, where members can work, network, and collaborate with partners whilst enjoying the benefits of an enterprise zone location. The space, which launched in September 2017, is a managed work area hosting the strategic partners in Engine Shed’s mission for inclusivity for the region’s economic growth.

The Interchange is fast filling up with exciting and innovative companies from across the West of England. Find out more about flexible desk hire and office space in The Interchange, or to find out more about accelerating your business connections at Engine Shed, get in touch.
