Six scale up case studies have been published by the Scale Up Generator, putting the spotlight on some of the West of England’s scaling companies.
The case studies, created in partnership with TechSPARK, include Huggg, an app that allows users to send food and drinks as a treat to their friends, Disrupt Sports, a custom equipment company for individuals, businesses, and brands, and Techmodal, a Bristol-based data consultancy company.
As well as sharing the region’s scale up success stories, the case studies provide guidance and insight for other growing businesses hoping to follow in their footsteps. The case studies explore the different challenges faced by growing companies whether related to investment or international markets. They also provide some information on funding, and tools and support services that they consider to be invaluable to their success.
Briony Phillips, Associate Director and Engine Shed, and former West of England Scale Up Enabler, said:
“The case studies that we’ve developed with TechSPARK are one aspect of our work to build a growing, sustainable and inclusive economy for the next generation. The content tells the story of how different fast growth companies have overcome the challenges of scaling, and provides some inspiration and support for others at different stages of their journey.”
The Scale Up Generator was launched in September 2018 in partnership with the West of England Combined Authority and the Growth Hub. It provides companies with resources to help them navigate the scale up ecosystem in the West of England, including the Scale Up Yearbook, and the Growth Map and its accompanying Augmented Reality app, which details over 50 organisations identified as the most beneficial for entrepreneurial businesses in the South West.
By sharing the case studies of six scale up companies, the Scale Up Generator highlights the importance of researching the correct business tools and investment channels to help your company, and of learning from others to improve your own growth journey.
Engine Shed is dedicated to supporting scaling businesses, and frequently hosts events and projects aimed at supporting companies in a period of rapid growth. Look out for more news and events for scale ups, and how you can get involved, on the Engine Shed website, or via the Scale Up Generator.
