We exist to drive innovation in Bristol and the West of England that can have a positive impact to improve our world.
We welcome startups, industry, academics, government and community organisations to our innovation hub, where we provide office and coworking space, membership, training, events and access to our network.
Each year, over 30,000 people use Engine Shed to connect, collaborate and innovate.
Located in the heart of Bristol
You’ll find us at Temple Meads Station in the original terminus building designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We’re home to a Members’ Lounge, 5 meeting rooms, 4 event spaces, 3 coworking spaces and 18 offices.
Proud to be part of the University of Bristol, Engine Shed sits at the heart of the city’s Bristol Temple Quarter redevelopment scheme, the UK’s largest and most ambitious urban regeneration project. The redevelopment will create 22,000 new jobs, 10,000 new homes and bring £1.6 billion a year to the city economy.
Our network, for you
Engine Shed is host to an innovation network unrivalled in the West of England.
It includes techSPARK, Barclays Eagle Labs, SETsquared Bristol and the Quantum Technologies Innovation Centre, all of whom are dedicated to driving innovation in the region.
An open door to all sectors
We believe that our strength lies in our differences, and in working together for an outcome greater than our own. We bring a diverse mix of people and companies together through individual connections and carefully orchestrated programmes to create practical opportunities for new collaborations to form.
What started as an experimental partnership between Bristol City Council and the University of Bristol in 2013 is now the model for innovation hubs the world over, but we have no intention of standing still. Engine Shed continues to innovate, to challenge conventional wisdom and to seek new partners as we look to the future, responding to our changing world, leading change and positively impacting lives.
