Bristol has been named the second most innovative city in the UK after London, according to a new study by Paymentsense.
The city scores 82.5 out of 100 in the new UK innovation index. The index ranked 60 locations on innovation criteria such as number of business start-ups, number of universities and their rankings, qualified workforce and profession knowledge, and entrepreneurialism (Google search volumes and trends for ‘how to start a business’).
Bristol came closely behind London which scored 86.4 and put the city ahead of Manchester and Edinburgh in joint third place with 78.5.
Bristol’s start-up rate per 10,000 people came in at 56, and investment into Kickstarters at nearly £11 million.
