Engine Shed was working with schools to host Inset days here free of charge, so teachers can explore workplace opportunities for their pupils. This project is currently seeking support.
As part of our Diverse Workforce for The Future programme in working with large numbers of young school students, it became obvious that the teaching staff accompanying the groups were just as interested.
It dawned on us that if we didn’t give teachers the opportunity to see what the current world of work (especially in the tech, digital, creative and sustainability sectors) looks like and the reality of current pathways into work, then we are missing a huge trick.
So, it was our objective to offer as many teachers as possible this opportunity – if we can inspire the inspirers, everyone wins!
Staff were offered a tour of both the Engine Shed and the SETsquared Bristol tech incubator by staff experienced in the sectors.
